I needed to chose web fonts for my proposed Taxidermy website. I wanted a serif and sans serif font similar to the print versions. I decided on Georgia as it is a very common font and has a similar curve as Garamond. I chose Corbel in replacement for gotham because it is a fairly new font and the closed I could find to the large circle shape counters. 

I emulated the design of the publication onto the web layout.
The website would be used as a news feed and a community where audiences can voice their opinions and share their experiences of the trade subject. 

I am very proud of these two pages I designed. I feel it is enough to get a idea of what the live website would look like. On the whole I have really enjoyed this brief, every part of it was interesting to me.

Should design for the lowest common denominator. Analyse who the website is for and what device they will view it on. 

Important to charge right £30 a hour, inflated rate because you do not work everyday of the year. Budget it how you go around. Someone charges £120 a hour for big companies reassuring, 'he must be good'. Itemise everything, or amount per page.

Specific with amends and how much it is and how many you get. If you are making the content you have to charge for it. Never start a project before a deposit. 

More amends hourly paid. It's all in the contract.

What to do when you manage a website
well designed (it will be dynamic) constantly changing content so it is searchable. Updating content everyday so the website is at the top of google search.

very costly. We can manage the content very easily by using dreamweaver. Content management system Cms (you charge to set up this system where they can edit the content). Business catalyst. $500 a month. way expensive. There are a lot of free ways and paid ways to do it. 

You manage it, guarantee a monthly salary just from managing websites.
Don't want to take on... convincing that it is not economical if there are clients you do not what to do.

Word press 100 percent free. 
Can use it as a management to a site.
More commonly known as being a blog. Go with something that is as easy as possible.

Trouble Shooting is a good web designer. Structure your code, and it's easy.

1 Day for a DWT(Template) 1st, CSS (stylesheet)...  a couple of seconds to make html created quickly after that.

You would make the DWT page which is a Dreamweaver Template that give you a structure that can be quickly applied to the website. Easy to edit.
Then you could clone it for all other web pages.

To do this to any section you want to be the same on every page. inside the div in this case after the container go into Insert- Template Objects - Editable Region

Dan was round this morning o I decided to get all of the content I needed for his website. Below are all of my design development and the issuu below is the final five pages I will code and put onto the internet.

Printing
Business cards. I was hoping to get these printed at moo, but that depends on how much money we have! Trying to print them with James tomorrow on thick card stock, hopefully they will look good.

Poster development

I am working with the idea that for the promotional posters they will use the same grid as a website homepage. My first attempt was to try and use a massive pt size and a huge photograph. The colour will make they prints stand out. I wanted to develop my ideas so they had a meaning and everything fits in together. I still prefer the pastel paper, but we'll see what people say in the crit.

At the moment this is just a rough guide of how Dan wants to website. It gives me a lot of room to change the layout, as long as the end result is minimalistic. I haven't used a grid so the layout is not perfect, this was just a quick exercise to use a reference and make me think about how text will work within the website. Most of this depends on content and how much I have, to determined the size of text boxes, etc. 

We both know exactly what content is going into the website.
Dan is going to write it all for me asap. So I can continue to design and start to code!
