Board Covers

I wanted to create A3 covers.
So I designed them to be relevant to the brief .., After printing I realised that it has completely separated all of my boards and made them look like they don't belong together. So I am going to print some simple ones uses the same typefaces and layout as my submissions forms and boards.
I must remind myself that over complicating things just looks messy.
Below is a pdf of what I printed:

Here are my new improved ones:

A lot better and much more neutral. It works well with my CD case and I love the natural feel of stock. The sizes are A5 folded so a buldog clip can group the boards.

Tomorrow I will print A6 versions to group together my print hand ins. I will also make a band to fasten around my Timeline Typosgraphe Poster.

I am very happy with my branding and know they look way more professional than my original ideas. I am trying to be more organised.

Printed all of my boards!

Dan's Final Website

After spending ages deliberating on Dan's website I came back to it with a fresh pair of eyes. Ater looking back I realised that there was no need for the mint green colour. I wanted the strip everything back to grey, white and black.
So I changed the colours and added a image od Dan's face for the about page. the image is taken from The MHG filming. I then mocked it up on a Imac to put it into context. I will pick a couple for my final boards.  I now feel I know the basics of web design and I can't wait to learn some more.

Photographing everything for my boards

I booked out Studio B last week for today from 4:30-9pm. Since having the photography induction I know I need to document my final outcomes a lot better. Every placement I have been on they have always said students websites are very impressive when they have good photography and a theme.

I rented one Digital SLR, 2 lights, 2 stands and 2 cables. I also used a large table for taking photographs on. One of the photography staff helped me set up the camera, but they left at 5pm. Every time I moves the camera I had to adjust the ISO or Apiture, Lisa had also warned me that all of her photographs turned out blurred when she put them onto her mac, because the quality of the view on the camera is bad, you cannot tell. Due to his I stared taking photographs with my iphone... and my SLR photographs are mostly blurred and my iphone photos look great. Very very glad I used my iphone, the only problem is on about 25 out of 264 images have different temperature of colour.

Because I am a girl

This took ages to upload! so many photographs. Going to add them to my boards now and change the type and layout so it creates a brand.

Final Crit

Feeling positive today I had a lot of final products compared to some and I'm happy with my position. I am photographing all my work today, and i just need to fix one design for all of my boards instead of trying to recreate the brief in each set of boards. I have at least one thing to propose for each brief... so this work is very do-able and hopefully stress free.
 Feedback
The final crit today

I created by boards all to reflect the individual briefs, but after the crit and seeing everyone else boards it was easy to see that the individuality of the brief is lost with the design of the boards. I decided to re-design them to create a brand for myself and submission.
I hope this makes my work look more unified.

Daniel Chappell's Twitter

I took ages to try and delete the header, I tried to add extra code to the webpage, but this didn't work, So heres the best I could do... defiantly reflects dan though. Going to add the profile picture as Dan's logo when I do the proper photo shoot.
Final:

Dan's mock up booklets and drum stick pencils

Foiling tomorrow.

Stickers Printed:

The final touches to the Dan brief. I made the work notation books today, using my sowing machine, it's been ages since I've used it which reminds me that I love using it.
I also printed varying stocker sizes to use as envelope seals and fun promotion.

Boards for Dan C

I can't believe it takes so long to do boards! This took me near 4 hours. Tomorrow I have to do at least 4 sets of brief boards. Already started the Plan Uk set. To be fair Dan C is my biggest brief and the most complicated.

Posting Dan's Posters Around Hyde Park

Me and Dan went around Hyde Park to post his promotional posters. I originally wanted to flier paste then to walls and electrical boxes and posts, but after research I realised there is a £80 on the spot fine if caught and you have to pay the full removal price, and you can also get a ASBO. This would be worse because they have dan's info anyone can ring him and fine him straight away.
So we used blue tack as only a few stores and taxi ranks would put posters up inside.
I think they look great and defiantly stand out.

Important to charge right £30 a hour, inflated rate because you do not work everyday of the year. Budget it how you go around. Someone charges £120 a hour for big companies reassuring, 'he must be good'. Itemise everything, or amount per page.

itemising, so that they have the opportunity to shorten it.

Dan's Branding

The Posters

Business Cards
Using 9 colours in the stencils to brand Dan. I wasn't sure what colours to use, I make 11 and decided that the variety was nice and gave the idea that you have something more valuable. The stock is from Muji originally meant to be used for origami, thin 60 gsm and varying 20 colours.

I still really like the original burnt in paper lazer cut business cards, but these defiantly show off my craft skills. For the type information I wanted to use a neutral colour, but not black. Brown links directly to Dan's drum kit, the stock is bulky news print 210gsm. The type works well with any coloured front. I am going to create a batch of 30 to see how the production line will work, but these are defiantly my final designs and something that Dan loves too.

Letterhead

Choosing between three different stock colours
Dust Grey
Bright White
Antique Cream

For me grey doesn't fit in as well with the Dan Brand. I really like the off brown, but I feel the white looks great with the business cards. The stock in faintly lined, so it has detail and looks interesting. For me the mix of white and antique is best.
The Chosen Final

With the letters Dan will attach a business Card to the top if they are a new client and have not been given one before. This gives Dan's contact details as I do not want to add Dan's address to the letterhead as it is obviously a house address not a studio. This also ties the brand all together.

Notebooks

I had a great idea to expand the Dan C brand. I wanted to create notebooks that are branded with Dan's logo that could be used by students to notate their music. It will have Dan's details inside the pages and his logo on the front cover. There would be two variation one A4 large book with 80gsm white spreads. The other would be a smaller A5 book, same cover and logo on the front, but the stock would be 250gsm Cartridge paper with the intention that they can be used several times, rubbed out and used again. These A5 notebooks could be used whilst traveling, places where you wouldn't carry the larger A5 version.

Stickers
Going to get some circle 10 x 10cm stickers printed with James next week to add to the brand, used on letters and promotion. The designs will be different variations of Dan's logo.

Needs to post things on Twitter an get the website live.
