Visit to TARGET Print
Peter Biggins, the owner of Target Print, a Leeds based digital and litho printer. Showed us around his Printing Warehouse.
Lithography Printer... the beginning that feeds through the black stock.
Huge Heidelberg presses churning upto 15,000 prints a hour.
CMYK plates printed in the order: Black, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow.
The top of the machine at Cyan stand, here the ink is poured in and is released slowly onto a roller, that is attached to the printing plates. The leaver the hand is holding is a manual release of the ink, usually the machine will controll the level of ink itself.
Stock and the printing plate (at the foot of the machine).
Lays, grip the stock and make sure it is flush, straight and even.
Starch spray at the bottom of the machine, used to separet each sheet so they don't dry stuck together.
The console desk. Here the membor of staff chacks prints for print quality and can control the machine with all of these buttons affecting different zones.
