Stephen Kelly Assistant Keeper Natural Sciences

Studied Marien biology at UNI, worked at the RSPB and Blue Reef, looked after the animals and spoke to people.
Resident Taxidermist
Eric Morton
Retired now, before people used to leave animals outside his office for him to stuff.
Stephens view: a Victorian thing. Believes it is a dying trade. Bought a taxidermist red squirrel for £270-£350, no one left to do it. Or does it take that long to make? It is a trade, a useful trade.

No one to taxidermy anymore for them. If animals are left in the ice too long the frozen ice crystals damage the animal.
Animals all belong to the National History Society of Northumbria, manage it on behalf of them.
Starting school trips. Secondary to bring them into this room.
Only one conservation team to look after all the taxidermy in the North area.
Stephen wants to be trained eventually, Museum has bigger needs to spend it’s money. Would love to have a resident taxidermist.
