Fred's session: Clarifying each brief

Creating a statement of intent, a rational and Product, Range and Method of delivery for each brief.

Learn a new trade: Taxidermy
A primarily print and typographical investigation of creating a educational publication with a focus on experimental layout and font design.

I am making a information driven publication because I like educating a audience, also to improve my type skills and reflect feeling though type alone.

Product:
. A cheap to make and bind publication to teach a trade 'Taxidermy' giving a overview of the history, opinions, how to do it, interviews and places to see it.

Range:
. A proposed publication every month, making the Taxidermy issue as a template.
. Maybe make the other 11 front covers / double spread?

Method of Distribution:
. Lottery funded. FREE

Collab(Steph) ISTD: Type Factory
A typographical investigation of branding and promotion for an exhibition with a focus on celebrating the journey of typography from the beginning up to present.


I am going to create a exhibition with Steph so we will do the promotion and branding together, because we both want to improve our type knowledge, networking skills, branding and management.

Product: 
.Promotion for the exhibition: brand it. Posters & fliers advertising it.
.Exhibition publication to explain the journey of type up until the present, photographs of each work in the exhibition with contact info and a description.
.Online appearance

Range:
.Range of sizes of promotion and methods (facebook, twitter) 
.A website (maybe)

Method of Distribution:
.Promotion around before the event in Leeds city centre or college. 
.Promotion on the web: a website? facebook, twitter
.Publication will be at the exhibition and will be kept as a momento.



Branding Oasis Appartments and Promoting Kos
A promotion and branding investigation of tourism in Kos with focus on typography layout, mapping using the stereotypes of Hippocrates.

I'm going to create a bespoke typeface based on Hippocrates and Greece, along with design to inform tourist where to travel too in Kos, because I want to strengthen my branding and type making abilities. I also want to work on a brief including mapping and include my photographs.

Product:
. Everything using bespoke typeface based on Hippocrates and Greece. 
. Printed based work to promote Kos and inform tourists that Kos is a adventure and point out all the places to go.


Range:
For KOS:
Information about Kos in a booklet/poster for tourists, postcards, wrapping paper, (website?), 

For OASIS APARTMENTS:
New brand, logo, map of Kos & location, bedroom key, towels, motorbike rental and bicycle.   


Method of Distribution:
. Website with all the info on there
. Info given out at Oasis Apartments (in all hotels) and can be picked up at Kos Town tourist information centres.

Leeds Market & Food Recipes
A print and Digital investigation of Leeds Market local produce packaging and banding using illustration with a focus on exploring different culture design through recipes.

I'm going to re-brand Leeds Market as a place for locals to buy local produce and take away a bit of culture, because I think we should support local businesses. It will improve my branding and packaging abilities and will let me use illustration.

The Product:
. Promoting it as healthy and supporting the local community.
. Branding a 3 stalls to show how the whole market can have a re-vamp making more customers want to shop.
. Each food stall will have a small postcard recipe to embrace it's culture. All the postcards can be bound into a recipe book.

Range:
.Re-branding of the Leeds market (live healthy): brand, promotion, posters, propose a website. friendly colours (pastels) with small illustrations. Hand rendered smooth Type

.Re-brand of a fish mungers inside the market to show what the 'vibe' / 'theme' should be inside the market produce: illustration based (family friendly), with hand-drawn type with simple digital type. Earthy feeling, natural. Least and cheapest packaging possible. hand felt (ANTI-CORPORATE)

A iconography and type investigation of research and information with a focus on print based outcomes.

I'm going to research this subject, because I find it interesting and a possibility that we probably will ruin the Earth. I have also written it to deal with masses of confusing information and try and communicate that clearly. I also think the concept of future design is interesting and a fun thing to research.

Choosing between 
Branding Oasis and promoting Kos Vs Welcome to your new home.

I am really undecided, I defiantly wanted to do both, but I really can not fit in 5 significant briefs and 2 smaller (still quite large) briefs.

I have asked a few people and they think that the Welcome home brief will be more popular for searching on the interent as people tend to be interested in space as a 'cool' thing.
I think I'm going to leave it for a day and see how I feel tomorrow.
